What Is the Cheaper Home Batteries Program?

Backed by the Federal Government, the Cheaper Home Batteries Program is set to launch on 1 July 2025. It aims to accelerate the adoption of home battery systems by offering upfront rebates, helping homeowners, small businesses, and community facilities reduce energy costs and increase energy independence.

What You Need to Know

 Note: Some states and territories, including Western Australia, may offer additional rebates. WA’s Residential Battery Scheme requires VPP participation and can be combined with the federal program. Please check your local scheme or contact your DPA representative for details.

Note: Federal eligibility also requires systems to have a nominal storage capacity of between 5 kWh and 100 kWh.


On-Grid vs Off-Grid Eligibility

On-grid systems must meet all standard criteria, including VPP capability.
